Myanmar Unique garment factory temporarily closes because of low orders

YANGON-----Because of low orders, Myanmar Unique garment factory in Hlaingthayar Industrial zone, Hlaingthayar Township, Yangon Region, already closed down temporarily since September 21st , according to unidentified officer from a factory.

“The factory didn’t get orders since the beginning of 2020. And then, factory closed down due to COVID-19 struck and flash political crisis. But, it isn’t completely closed down,” said an officer from a factory.

Moreover, there have been many lay-offs among factory workers during Covid-19 outbreak. However, the factory pays compensations to over 300 remaining factory workers in accordance with the labour laws since factory temporarily closure.

The Myanmar Unique garment factory is owned by Myanmar citizen and it opened about 5 years ago.

There have been closures of factories and many jobless cases in Myanmar, according to workers’ representatives.
