Myanmar found 1,427 new COVID-19 confirmed patients and 23 more have died, announced the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) on the night of December 9.
A total of 20,826 samples were tested from December 8 at 8:00 pm to December 9 at 8:00 pm, and found new 1,427 new COVID-19 patients.
A total of 989 people were allowed to be discharged from the hospitals, bringing the total number of people free from the virus to 81,715.
Among the 23 deaths, 18 had underlying chronic medical conditions. Up to 2,174 patients have died from the virus, it said.
It said 1,351,918 samples were tested till December 9 and found 103,166 patients so far and 81,715 people were recovered from the virus with 2,174 deaths.
A total of 991 people, who had close contact with positive patients in Yangon Region and tested negative, are put in home quarantine, it said.
Hospitals in Yangon Region are testing COVID-19 suspects using rapid antigen diagnostic test kits and there are people who lost their sense of smell and taste included, announced the MOHS.
