Under a bilateral technological exchange programme, Myanmar will cooperate with Japan in turning highly skilled agriculturalists and establishing more research centres, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation.

"Our ministry is taking measures for increased agricultural productivity by applying agricultural management and modern technology and biotechnology and adoption of agricultural policies to be able to use changing and sophisticated technologies. We are also trying for production of marketable crops and human resource development based on agricultural experiences in the region by shifting from conventional method to modern method," said Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Thu.

He said the ongoing bilateral technological exchange programme would contribute much towards the research work of students from the University of Agriculture and technological skills.

Under the sponsorship of Mitsul Company Limited, professors from Tokyo Agriculture University from Japan gave lectures on agriculture.
