Myanmar and India have signed an agreement to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a high-voltage cross-border power transmission line project.
A delegation led by Deputy Minister for Electric Power U Aye Kyaw attended the 6th Myanmar-India Joint Steering Committee Meeting on Power Sector Cooperation, held in New Delhi, India, from July 10 to 11.
On the afternoon of July 9, the delegation, at the invitation of H.E. Shri Manohar Lal, India’s Minister of Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs, discussed ongoing bilateral cooperation in the power sector.
During their visit, the delegation participated in the 7th Joint Working Group Meeting and the 6th Joint Steering Committee Meeting on Myanmar-India Power Sector Cooperation. They also signed the Agreement for the Preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Myanmar-India High-Voltage Cross-Border Power Transmission Line Project.
Additionally, during the trip, the delegation visited several key facilities. On July 10, they toured the Power Grid Corporation of India’s National Control Center in New Delhi. On July 11, they observed the Technical Research and Training Center and Solar Hybrid Farm of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Noida. On July 12, they observed the 800 kV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) substation operated by the Power Grid Corporation in Agra.
