There are about 500 oversea employment agencies in Myanmar and among them, 160 agencies send workers to Thailand and licenses of 11 agencies were suspended.
Currently 498 agencies are now operating and 157 agencies are sending workers to Thailand according to sources. The licenses of 11 agencies are suspended for about 6 months to one year, it said. New Three Diamond, Shwe Lwin Lwin, Star Yadanar, and Aung Kaung Mon agencies faced 6 months suspension.
Shwe Phyo Thar, Royal ABS, Top Choice Man Power, Phyu Sin May, Wai Phyo Aung, JMK Services and Diamond Bagan faced 1 year suspension.
“Majority of oversea agencies send workers to Thailand,” said a man from the agency.
Currently, a lot of workers from Myanmar go to Thailand. And Thailand authority eases restricitions on migrant workers including Myanmar.
According to the meeting held on July 5 by the Thai authority, migrant workers who are in the name list are permitted for extension of work and stay in Thailand. Therefore, foreign workers are temporarily allowed to stay and work from August 2023 to February 2025. Within these periods, employers need to apply for their workers for legally working in the country within 90 days. Children of migrant workers under 18 years are also allowed just like their parents while above 18 years are permitted to stay till 2025. If they desire to work, they have to apply, according to Thailand authority.
