Myanmar hands over Bangladeshis back to their country

KISSAPA- Myanmar yesterday handed over 17 Bangladesh citizens including illegal citizens to their country officially, according to the Maungdaw District Immigration Department.

The handing over ceremony was held at the No.1 Maungdaw transit camp and it was attended by Htein Lin, Deputy Director of Maungdaw District Immigration Department and the Bangladesh delegation led by Lt-Col Md Asadud-Zaman Chowdhury from Bangladesh.

Among the Bangladesh citizens, 12 were found on a damaged boat carrying 104 Bengalis at the Aungbala creek, near Tharsi village, Yathedaung Township, on June 11th. The two that were amongst the five Bengalis that were arrested at the Kyaukpandu Beach, Maungdaw Township, on February 23rd and the remaining three that had served their prison terms at the Sittwe Prison were all handed over.

The navy found the boat carrying 104 Bengalis at the mouth of Aungbala Creek, near Tharsi village, Yathedaung Township, in the morning of June 11th and sent them to the Ngakhuya Re-acceptance center.

Later, officials carried out the scrutinizing processes of the detained Bengalis. Among those, 12 were Bangladesh citizens and 92 were found to be Bengalis living in Buthedaung and Maungdaw Townships in Rakhine State.

92 Bengalis were sent back to their places in Rakhine State and 12 Bangladesh citizens were handed over to their country through the diplomatic process.

Likewise, 228 boat people were found out at the sea near Thinbawgwe village, Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, on 21st, 2015 and 208 out of 228 were Bangladesh citizens and they were handed over to their country.
