Myanmar exports about 140,000 tons of broken rice to Belgium during this FY

Myanmar exported about 140,000 tons of broken rice (worth over US$37 million) to Belgium within over seven months of this FY from October 1 to May 10 and it is more than 51 per cent of total broken rice export, according to Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).

Myanmar earned more than US$74 million from over 270,000 tons of broken rice export in this period in total.

It exported more than 44,400 tons of broken rice export (worth over US$12 million) to Indonesia in the same period and followed by China with about 22,000 tons of broken rice export (worth over US$6 million).

Other countries which Myanmar exported broken rice are United Kingdom and Poland and the exported amounts are over 13,700 tons and 7,500 tons of broken rice respectively.

Myanmar is exporting rice and broken rice to African countries and European countries via maritime trade and China through border trade routes.

Although it exported over 1.3 million tons of rice and broken rice within over seven month of this FY, it is less US$310 million compared with the same period in last FY, according to Ministry of Commerce.

Myanmar exported over 3.5 million tons of rice and broken rice to overseas countries in 2017-18 FY and it broke the record of rice and broken rice export in over 50-year time.

The remains of rice will be bigger after local consumption and export in this FY and more than two million tons of rice will be left, according to the MRF.
