“Myanmar citizens need to decide Myanmar’s affairs and it will never give chance to other countries to decide something Myanmar citizens must decide on the issues of Myanmar,” said Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

He said these words at the SAC meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw on May 12.

He has invited ethnic armed organizations for holding talks. So far, 7 NCA signatories and 3 non-NCA signatories have replied to attend the talks according to Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

“Whenever foreign countries interfere in internal affairs, it is very difficult to ensure peace and stability of the nation. Myanmar citizens need to decide on the issues in Myanmar. It will never give chance to other countries to decide something. Myanmar citizens must decide on the issues of Myanmar. We will march towards the political goal that we want to go and people aspire to after holding peace talks with our strengths. We have adopted a five-point road map. The achievement of this road map is related to peace issues. If the emphasis is placed on a single region or group, we will find that it will be difficult to be conformity with the people’s desires. We will implement the peace issue in harmony with the people’s desire. If one truly desire peace, one needs to come for talks. If the entire ethnic people of the Union do it in the Union spirit and they have the perspective to secure the achievement, I think the peace talks would be successful,” said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

He added that leaders of the ethnic armed organizations together with two members each are invited to the talks. So far, seven NCA signatories and three non-NCA signatories have replied to attend the talks. Some EAOs will send the persons representing the chairmen for their health conditions.

Senior General replied that the peace talks will be held with each EAO. The government and the Tatmadaw have guaranteed multiparty democracy and the Union system based on democracy and federalism.

He then explained the meaning of democracy and federal system. The main requirement for our country is peace and prosperity. If we can create job opportunities based on democracy, the country will be peaceful and in doing so, the government has to take the leadership role. Then only prosperity will become. So, we need to work for achieving peace, he added.
