Myanmar and Thai agree to fight against human trafficking

MYAWADDY-With the aim to fight against human trafficking in persons, a meeting was held at the hall in Tak Province, Thailand, yesterday morning.

It was attended by the Deputy Administrator from Tak Province and his officials, Police Lt-Col. Thet Lin Oo from Myawaddy District Police Force and officials.

Both leaders delivered the opening speeches and the members briefed the attendees about the meeting minutes of 7th Tak-Myawaddy Bilateral Meeting on Border Cooperation on Anti-trafficking in Persons (BCATIP).

The meeting was held at the City Home Hotel in Myawaddy District, June 20th and it focused on enhanced cooperation in the areas of screening, national verification, information sharing and repatriation of victims trafficking.

Moreover, Myanmar is now giving educative talks about MoU workers from Myanmar. If it will seem unfair on Myanmar workers, they can complaint against their unfair to the Labour Protecting Department in Tak Province and Social Welfare Branch Office in Mae Sot.

Myanmar and Thailand adopted a joint plan of action in early September aiming to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fight against human trafficking, according to a statement released on August 12 by the United Nations Inter-agency Project on Human Trafficking.    

The plan of action comes under the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, signed between Myanmar and Thailand in April in Nay Pyi Taw.
