Myanmar and Russia discuss technical cooperation in onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration

Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin met with Russia-Myanmar Association for Friendship and Cooperation led by its President Mr Anatoly Bulochnikov at the Union Minister’s office in Nay Pyi Taw on September 26.

At the meeting,  they discussed about technical cooperation in inland and offshore petroleum and gas exploration, boosting cooperation between Myanmar and Russia in the energy sector, the opportunity for Russian companies to distribute fuel in Myanmar, technical support for producing fertilizer using charcoal as a raw material, issues about the sixth Russia International Energy Forum, establishing oil and gas pipelines, Seismic works and opportunities for Russian companies to cooperate in petroleum refining. 

Deputy Minister for Energy U Thant Zin, the permanent secretary and the Director-General under the Ministry of Energy, Managing Directors and delegates from the Russia-Myanmar Association for Friendship and Cooperation attended the meeting.

Moreover, the president of Russia-Myanmar Association for Friendship and Cooperation met with Electric Power Minister U Nyan Tun in Nay Pyi Taw at the same day.

During their meeting, they talked about successful results in multi-sector as the fruits of Russia-Myanmar cooperation, and Russian contributions to the development of the electric power sector before exchanging views on the opportunity of cooperation for Russian companies in generating electric power employing hydro, solar, wind and thermal energy sources as well as Russian’s opportunities to cooperate with local companies in electric power sector.
