A Myanmar amateur climbing team, The Summiter, reached the summit of Phangran Razi Mountain; one of the well known ice-capped mountains in Kachin State, on April 12.

However, one female team member died during the climb as a result from the fall.

The 21-member climbing team left from Putao on April 6 to climb the mountain.

They arrived at the summit of the mountain on the morning of April 12 and hoisted the national flag.

During the climb, the now-deceased Seint Htet slipped and fell to the ravine covered with ice about 2,000 feet in depth.

“They found her body in the ravine but they could not recover it,” said Zaw Khine, leader of the climbing team.

Her family and the team members are proud of what she had achieved even though she had lost her life.

The scaling of the 14,095 feet high Phangran Razi Mountain was the first hiking trip for the team.
