Myanma Shipyards Dong A Joint Venture Company Limited is arranging to hand over a multi-purpose vessel to its owner, Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems under Ministry of Transportation and Communications, on July 27, sources said.

The company is building nine vessels and repairing four vessels at the present, according to the Myanma Shipyards.

“We are building nine vessels and one vessel will be handed over to its owner soon. It is being tested and will be handed over to the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems,” said Kyaw Kyaw, its general manager.

The Myanmar Shipyards was founded in 1970 as a state owned shipyards and it is running as a business company from 2013-14 FY.

It signed an agreement with Dong A Shipbuilding Industry JSC from Vietnam in January 2015 to establish Myanma Shipyards Dong A joint-ventured company limited and started the business in October 2015.

After that, AMECC Mechanical Construction JSC from Vietnam was included in the joint-ventured business and its name was changed to Myanma Shipyards-AMECC Joint Venture Company Limited to build vessels, river-crossing bridges and road-rail bridges.
