Mrauk-U region nomination draft for World Heritage Site to be submitted in September

As Myanmar tries to put Mrauk-U cultural region on the list of World Heritage Site, a draft proposal will be submitted to the World Heritage Committee in September this year and a final proposal in February 2020. 

The enlistment effort started in 2016 and plans are underway to submit a nomination dossier draft to UNESCO. 

Mrauk-U region is home to numerous ancient pagodas, stupas and buildings that show heritage from ancient civilizations. 

If Mrauk-U cultural region is enlisted as a World Heritage Site, tasks for preservation and long-term existence of tangible and intangible cultural heritages. 

The national level cooperation committee established for the enlistment effort held the first work coordination meeting at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture (Yangon office) on August 16.
