Lower House MP Dr Thet Thet Khaing, whose duties of National League for Democracy were suspended, has been allowed to resign from the party, NLD Spokesperson Dr Myo Nyunt told The Daily Eleven.

The resignation letter was submitted in September and it was approved at NLD's Central Executive Committee meeting held at the party headquarters in Yangon on October 25.

"As she wanted to resign from the party, we allowed her. She has now become independent," said Dr Myo Nyunt on October 31.

Dr Thet Thet Khaing won a parliamentary seat in the lower house constituency in Dagon Township representing the NLD. She served as member of Lower House's committee for banks and financial development.

Her township executive duties and party duties were suspended in September 2018 for allegedly violating the party discipline. But she remained as party member.

She didn't pick up her phone although three phone calls were made on October 31 to ask about her resignation.

There were reports that she has become a member of a newly-formed political part y. However, she told The Daily Eleven on October 26 that she didn't want to comment about such reports.

The members of parliament who have resigned from NLD so far are Lower House MP Dr Thet Thet Khaing fro Dagon Township, Lower House MP U Sein Win for Maubin Township, Upper House MP Tin Aung Tun for Magaway Region Constituency No (5) and Upper House MP Pe Chit for Yangon Region Constituency No (9).
