Upper House MP Aung Kyi Nyunt called for cooperation from all, including the military in establishing a joint committee for amending the constitution.

Aung Kyi Nyunt, who tabled the motion to form the committee, made the remark in response to the media question after the completion of a parliamentary session in Nay Pyi Taw on February 4.

"All must cooperate in this effort. We did so in the previous parliamentary term. It must be all-inclusive. All have to coordinate and discuss what should be amended and what should not be amended. We have to discuss this," the lawmaker told the reporters.

Asked about any move to motivate military representatives to participate in the committee, MP Aung Kyi Nyunt said: "It is better to have inclusive cooperation. They are still considering. It is not good to say in advance what will happen what they consider. They should participate. But the military has not been included in the list of those planning to discuss. Section 436 and Section 59 (f) will also be discussed. If they are to be discussed, we have to discuss how they will be amended. Now it is not good for us to say what will be amended," said Aung Kyi Nyunt.

Military MPs are said to be not included in the list of those who have registered to debate the proposal.
