More than 300 volunteer teachers appointed in Chin State

More than 300 volunteer teachers have been appointed during this academic year, in Chin State due to high demands, said Ko Lay Win, Director-General of Basic Education Department.

More than 300 volunteer teachers are appointed as There are more than 300 basic education schools which have no teachers in Paletwa Township in Chin State.

“Some schools have one teacher only while even some schools have no teacher. We will have to close these schools if we are unable to appoint teachers,” he added.

The department appoints the locals who have passed the grade-10 and grade-11. In addition, the department will appoint other graduates who meet required qualifications as the basic education sector is in need of teachers.

The country needs between 8,000 and 10,000 teachers a year.
