The Myanmar Embassy in Thailand announced on December 7 that a mobile team will be sent to the factories, workshops and construction industries with 400 or more Myanmar workers in Thailand to renew their passports and CI books.
According to the announcement of the Thai government on September 24, Myanmar workers who hold passports and CIs will be granted a two-year temporary residence and work permit in Thailand, so it is necessary to renew their passports and CI books. In order to be renewed the passport for two years, normally, the passport needs to have at least two years and six months of validity left, according to the embassy's release.
However, if the relevant departments of Thailand will grant a temporary work permit (work permit/visa) during the remaining period of the passport, when the passport expires, a new passport will be made at the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok and Consulate General in Chiang Mai. It is reported that the endorsement that the two books are the same will be given, if necessary.
Therefore, if there are 400 or more people who need to renew their passports in factories, workshops and construction industries, a mobile team will be sent to the factories, workshops and workplaces with the aim of not stopping the business and not losing workers' daily expenses. It is necessary to submit the list of workers to the consular department of the Myanmar Embassy or Consulate General office by filling out the prescribed form and submitting it to the consular department of the Myanmar Embassy and Consulate General starting from December 9.
CI books renewal process will continue to be informed. Myanmar workers in factories, workshops and construction sites need to continue to inform HR Managers of the following issues, the Myanmar Embassy in Thailand announced.
