Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) forcibly recruited the locals from villages in Kunglong Township in Shan State (North), according to a statement issued by the Commander-in-Chief’s Office on February 2.

At 9 pm on January 27, a 15-member MNDAA insurgent group carried out the forced recruitment of 11 men from the village.

Due to the MNDAA’s forced recruitment,  the IDPs are taking shelter at the monasteries in Karmai and Shaunglinshu village in Kunglong Township. Officials from the Kunglong Station provided them with rice and foodstuff.

The Tatmadaw is working to ensure the freeing of those from forced recruitment and bring about the peace and stability and the safety of locals, according the statement.

The MNDAA is an Ethnic Armed Organization which has yet to sign the Nationwide Ceasefire Accord (NCA). It is a member of the Federal Political Negotiations and Coordination Committee (FPNCC) led by the United Wa State Army (UWA).
