A flight Embraer 190 from Myanmar National Airlines bound for Mandalay from Yangon performed a belly landing at Mandalay TadaU Airport at 9.08 am today due to the landing gear failure, said U Ye Htut Aung, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Civil Aviation.

“The plane continued to fly due to the landing gear failure. The captain asked the air traffic control tower to check whether the landing gear failed to extend or not. The captain tried to reduce aviation fuel as landing gear failure was sure. The pilot can manage to make a safe landing as he has a lot of experience and is serving as an instructor,” he added

No one were injured in the accident. A total of 82 passengers and seven crew members were on the flight.
