Yangon-Ministry has drafted a plan for the prevention of COVID-19 at the IDP camps nationwide, said Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye, on a video conferencing with UN’s humanitarian organizations on 27 March.

There are 184,333 internally displaced persons (IDPs) at 128 camps in 24 townships in Kachin, Kyain, Shan and Rakhine States.

The plan covers the standards set for international humanitarian assistance and protection and the interim guidelines issued by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee. The plan is a living document that can be adapted to the current situation, the minister said.

The plan aims to disseminate knowledge about COVID-19 among the IDPs, to draft the preliminary plan for the prevention and control of COVID-19 at the IDP camps and to ensure the effective coordination among stakeholders over the preparedness and response plan for COVID-19.

Officers from four States where the IDP camps are loacted, also participated in the video conferencing.
