During 11 months of this fiscal year, the export earnings from the mining sector reached over 1.3 billion US dollars, down over 550 million US dollars, according to the figures from the Commerce Ministry.

From October 1 to August 30 of 2018-2019 FY, the mining sector earned 1.362 billion US dollars from exports of mining products. Mining export earnings dropped by 555.446 million US dollars, compared with last year’s figure of 1.917 billion US dollars.

Myanmar’s major exports are: farm, animal, mining, marine, forest and industrial finished products and other products.

The government has placed a ban on the export of forest and mining products as they are natural resources. The decline in the export is linked to the ban.

A decline in jade exports is also associated with the number of holding jade sale festivals.

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, the Mid-Year Myanmar Gems Emporium will be held in Nay Pyi Taw from September 16 to 25.
