Members of Arakan Army (AA) are disguised as policemen to detain an ex-serviceman lived in Gyiphyutaung Village, Maei sub-township, Toungup Township, Rakhine State on April 4, announced the army on April 6.

Kyaw Htoo, an ex-serviceman, is at his home and three men wearing police uniforms and a man wearing civilian clothes arrived in his home holding swords and sticks to detain him.

He is working as a vegetable planter in the village, the announcement said.

The AA terrorists are disguising as security forces or civilians to attack security bases and police outposts and detained innocent people including ex-servicemen and policemen to kill brutally.

The AA arrested 12 ex-servicemen and policemen in 12 times and killed eight ex-servicemen and policemen in five times from January 2019 to April 6 2020, it said.

His family members lodged a complaint against the AA members at Maei police station and security forces are cooperating with the locals to rescue him, it said.

Moreover the army providing security in Maungdaw Township went to check a place near Kyikanpyin (Taung) Village on a road connecting between Maungdaw and Kyikanpyin on April 5 as they had a tip-off about mine explosion. The security forces found a van with a bullet hole, a hole about eight feet in width and four feet in depth on the road, a ten-foot long wire and a used bullet, it said.

The security forces inquired about the car owner and found out it was owned by Tun Shwe, who lived in Aung Mingalar Village. They interrogated him and he said he left his village to go to Maungdaw and his car veered off the road due to the explosion. He was afraid and run away leaving his car. He had a contact with his family around 7 am on April 6.

The security forces found two men wearing civilian clothes on Maungdaw-Kyikanpyin road on March 27 and they run away leaving two hand-made mines when they were being called to interrogate. The security forces are conducting operation in the area for security, it said.
