Matriculation exam for the 2019-20 academic year is held today.
Students will sit for Myanmar language subject today, English language subject on March 12, Mathematics subject on March 13, Optional Myanmar subject on March 14, Chemistry subject on March 16, Physics subject on March 17, Biology and Economics subjects on March 18, Geography subject on March 19 and History subject on March 20.
All exams will be held from 9 am to 12 pm.
More than 970,000 students enlisted to sit the matriculation exam in 1,990 examination centers in this academic year. The number of examination centers in this academic year is 113 more in compared with those in last academic year.
Examination centers are opened in Yangon General Hospital, North Oakkalapa Hospital, Central Women’s Hospital, Waibargi Hospital and Mandalay General Hospital and Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital for the convenience of students receiving medical care.
A total of 181 inmates from Insein, Obo, Loikaw, Hpa-an, Taungoo, Thayet and Myeik prisons are listed to sit the exam in this academic year.
Moreover, 181 disabled students will sit the exam.
A total of 851,524 students sat the matriculation exam in last academic year and 267,696 (about 31 per cent) of them passed the exam.
