
Authorities in Myanmar have seized over 14.9 million methamphetamine pills, valued at more than 3.7 billion kyats, being transported from Shan State to the Myawady border, according to a statement from the Drug Enforcement Police Force.
On February 6, at around 10:30 PM, officers stopped a Mitsubishi Pajero vehicle near Kywetatson Village in Thazi Township, Mandalay Region. The vehicle, driven by A Hsar (alias A Hsar) and accompanied by Ma Moe Moe Aye, was found carrying 500,000 methamphetamine pills.
Similarly, on February 7, at approximately 8:30 AM, police apprehended Htun Zaw Dei Oo and Ma Phyu Phyu Aung in Hpa-an Township, Kayin State. The suspects were found in possession of 990,000 methamphetamine pills, hidden inside five or six bags in a Toyota Noan Voxy vehicle at the intercity bus station.
Further investigations led to additional arrests in Myawady, where law enforcement detained Sao Ohn Kywe @ Ohn Kyaw with a motorbike, as well as Toe Tet Htun @ Toe Gyi and Kaung Set Kyaw @ Kaung with a Toyota Wish vehicle, all of whom were involved in the drug trafficking operation.
The authorities confirmed that the seized drugs were being trafficked from Shan State to the Myawady border for further distribution. The suspects have been charged under the law, and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend additional individuals linked to the operation, according to the Drug Enforcement Police Force.
