Local investment reaches over Ks10 trillions within over four-year time

Local investment has reached over Ks10 trillions within over four-year time of this government era and they are mostly in real estate, services and production sectors, according to Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC).

A total of 575 investments made by Myanmar citizens had entered in 12 sectors from 2016-17 FY to 2019-20 FY and total investment are over ten trillions kyats.

The twelve sectors are housing development, other services, industrial, transportation and telecommunication, hotel and tourism, electricity, industrial zone building, livestock and fishery, construction, mining, farming and oil and natural gas sectors.

The investment amounts of the sectors are as per following: over Ks3 trillions in 38 investments in housing development sector, over Ks1.8 trillion in 137 investments in other services sector, over Ks1.6 trillions in 208 investments in industrial sector, over Ks1.14 trillion in 15 investments in transportation and telecommunication sector, over Ks1 trillion in 108 investments in hotel and tourism sector, over Ks430 billion in 16 investments in electricity sector, over Ks320 billion in 3 investments in industrial zone building sector, over Ks310 billion in 26 investments in livestock and fishery sector, about Ks230 billion in construction sector, over Ks70 billion in 9 investments in mining sector, over Ks40 billion in 13 investments in farming sector and over Ks13 billion in 2 investments in oil and natural gas sector.

Myanmar investment promotion plan is implemented with a five-year short term plan from 2016-17 FY to 2020-21 FY, a five-year medium term plan from 2021-22 FY to 2025-26 FY and a ten-year long term plan from 2026-27 FY to 2035-36 FY.

The investment targets are expected to have US$5.8 billion in five-year short term plan, US$8.5 billion in five-year medium term plan and US$17.6 billion in ten-year long term plan.
