Local bean prices rise as India plans to import Myanmar's mung bean

Local bean prices are increasing continuously in days following news that India has allowed Myanmar to export beans and pulses, according to Bayintnaung Wholesale Centre.

One ton of mung bean has increased to around K750,000.

According to figures from the wholesale centre, one tone of FAQ mung bean was priced at K740,000 and SQ mung bean at K885,000 on April 1. But their prices increased to K754,000 and K894,000 respectively on April 3 and K750,000 and K895,000 respectively on April 4.

India will import 500,000 tons of beans and pulses for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, and Myanmar is allowed to export 150,000 tons of mung beans, said Min Ko Oo, secretary of Myanmar Beans and Pulses and Sesame Merchants Association.

One tone of FAQ mung bean was priced at K650,000 and SQ mung bean at K775,000 on March 1. The prices were K570,000 and K720,000 respectively onn February 1.
