Lesswalk, a philanthropic organization, will donate bicycles to the students in the remote areas, in cooperation with the IKBZ.

Ko Mike Than Tun Win, a founder of the Lesswalk, said: “We will donate the bicycles to the students in the remote areas after buying defunct bike-sharing companies (oBike and oFo) in Singapore and Malaysia. Students in some regions have to walk about two miles to get to their schools. Thanks to our donation, they can save about 80 per cent of their times and pay more attention to their education.”

The original price of a bicycle is around 150 US dollars. Lesswalk bought these bicycles at a price of 15 USD per one. Some donors contribute transportation and repairing costs. The IKBZ donates 1,000 bicycles.

Nyo Myint, the vice-chair of the IKBZ said: “We plan to donate the bicycles for the students in the remote areas.”

“Currently, Lesswalk has donated 400 bicycles to the students in Hlegu and Hmawbi Townships in Yangon. Plan is underway to donate bicycles in Sagaing and Magway at the end of this month,” said Mike Than Tun Win.
