Less Walk Organization donates 171 bicycles to Sagaing Students

SAGAING- With the aim to provide bicycles to poor students studying at the Basic Education High School (Branch) at Pae Nga Hse village in Sagaing Region, Less Walk Organization donated 171 bicycles to the students yesterday.

The donation ceremony was held in the compound of Basic Education High School (Branch) and it was attended by Dr Myint Naing, Chief Minister of Sagaing Region and his counterparts, MPs, departmental personnel, officials from Less Walk Organization and invited guests as well as parents.

“I thought about the idea of supporting bicycles for the needy students over one year ago. Now, my dream comes true. I already bought 10,000 bicycles. I’m going to donate the bicycles across the nation. At present, I donate 171 bicycles to the Basic Education High School (Branch) in Pae Nga Hse village. The price of a bicycle is between Ks 150,000 and Ks 200,000. But, I bought these bicycles at a price of over Ks 50,000 per one,” said Than Tun Win, who is a founder of Less Walk Organization.

He also added that the organization would be donating the bicycles to the students in the remote areas after buying defunct bike-sharing companies (oBike and oFo) in Singapore and Malaysia. Students in some regions had to walk about two miles to get to their schools. Thanks to the donation, they[Students] can save about 80 percent of their times and pay more attention to their education.

The organization plans to donate 10,000 bicycles for needy students in the remote areas. Currently, the Less Walk donated the bicycles for 95 students from two monastic education in Yangon Region on June 15th and 16th.

Moreover, plans are underway to donate remaining bicycles in the States and Regions.
