KTV, night clubs banned in Yangon

As a measure to contain the spreading of Covid-19, Yangon Region Government has issued a directive to close KTV and night clubs till the end of April, said Yangon Region Minister for Social Affairs U Naing Ngan Lin.

The region government will also step up its health checks at famous pagodas including Shwedagon Pagoda and Yangon International Airport, he added.

“The region government will educate the people about the Covid-19 and arrange soaps for hand washing at the famous pagodas. The people need to take care of their personal hygiene,” he continued.

The coordination committee for prevention and control of Covid-19 was held at Yangon International Airport on 15 March.

Since13 March, the government has banned mass gatherings, events and festivals naionwide till the end of April. The government urged the public to abide by the warnings issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports and not to believe the rumours about the Covid-19.

On 13 March, the National Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of Covid-19 chaired by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, was formed.

There have been no confirmed cases in Myanmar yet.
