KK Park near Myawady, which is notorious for online gambling and human trafficking, is jointly established by Karen National Union (KNU) and a company, according to spokesman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.

Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun clarified that matter concerning the online fraud near Myawady on January 9. KNU issued a statement that they will cooperate with China and Thailand concerning the online fraud near Myawady.

“In the south of Myawady, there is a place called KK Park. It is being established by KNU and a company. We saw that KNU issued a statement on that matter today. They said that they will join hands with China and Thailand to solve the online gambling and online fraud near Myawady. What I want to say is they are openly lying to us. KK Park, which is famous for online gambling and human trafficking, is jointly established by KNU and a company. We have to be cautious about the matter,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.

In February, 2023,  a group of 68 Karen organizations demanded the resignation of the entire executive committee of the KNU, citing their failure to take action against former KNU Central Executive Committee members allegedly involved in illegal activities linked to the Chinese gangs such as KK Park.

KNU announced on April 27, 2023 that action will take in accordance with the law if the investigations showed that Phado Saw Roger Khin, former KNU Defense minister, KNU Brigade 7 commander Brigadier-General Saw Phaw Doh, Saw Do Soe, son of KNLA commander-in-chief General Saw Johnny, secretary of Brigade 4 Myeik-Dawei district Saw Tin Soe aka Saw Innardo have connections with the online scams.

Although investigations will be made to some leaders concerning online scams linking Chinese gangs such as KK park, no action has taken yet, according to KNU Chair Phado Saw Kwe Htoo Win on a press brief held on August 10, 2023.

Some online media wrote that KK Park is notorious for human trafficking and online scams. It is situated in Myawady, in Myawady-Thai border area in KNU controlled area.
