Kempinski Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw ceases its operation

Kempinski Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw where former U.S president Obama stayed during his visit to Myanmar in 2014  ceased its operation according to their statement.

A staff from its hotel who answers the phone said that they are no longer taking booking for accommodation, entertainment or any other services.

In its statement, it also described that the current operating environment has made it impossible for them to continue to do business. They also wrote that they thanked their guests for choosing to stay with Kempinski Hotel and apologized for any disruption that unforeseen development may have caused their guests.

Kempinski Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw was jointly operated by KBZ and Jewellery Luck companies with the investment of U.S $ 45 million. It was opened in Dakhina Thiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw on August, 2014.

Kempinski Hotel is currently operates a total of 75 five-star hotels in more than 30 countries. It is a luxury hotel management company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2016, it had planned to open second hotel in Myanmar. When former U.S president Obama visited Myanmar in 2014, to attend the ASEAN Summit, he stayed in Kempinski Hotel.
