K13bn earned from three-time sales of Myanmar pearls

Myanmar has earned over K13 billion from pearl sales three times at home and abroad, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.

The ministry's made a press briefing on a one-year period of its activities which were featured by State-run newspapers.

Myanmar's peal sales were held three times locally and internationally and the sale amount exceeded by nearly K2 billion than expected.

The ministry allowed local and foreign travellers to visit and study State-owned pearl culture camp and five other private pearl culture camps starting from October 2018.

From April 2018 to March 2019, it was expected to earn over K739.086 billion from minerals and gems including jade and pearl but the earnings amounted to over K1,027.774 billion exceeding over K288.687 billion.

In the country's gems sector, Myanmar earned 333.28 million euro in June 2018 and over K42 billion in November in the same year.
