Jade sales hit over K48 billion

The sales of jade stones reached K48298.49 million at the jade sale festival that took place at Maniyadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw from November 12 to 17, according to a statement by the Gem and Jade Sale Working Committee.

Than Zaw Oo, President of the Planning Working Committee said: “A total of 96 jade lots were on show. The 50 uncut jade lots worth K794.90 million were sold out. There are small and medium-sized gem entrepreneurs in Mandalay, Sagaing and Mogok. We sold jade lots in local currency as the exhibition aims to enable them to get raw materials.”

A total of 489 shops and 1,493 local gem merchants participated in the show, according to the statement.

“A total of 3,339 jade lots were on sale.  A total of 3,185 jade lots worth K48,298.49 million were sold out.

Kyaw Oo Lwin, secretary of Jade Working Committee said: “The main purpose is to develop the local fished gem sector. Thanks to it, local gem entrepreneurs can produce finished products and create job opportunities.”

The jade sale hit Ks22217.74 million in December, 2012, Ks 77839.63 million in January, 2014, Ks 128763.74 million in October, 2014, Ks 80841.85 million in December, 2015 and Ks 61915.21 million in March, 2017.
