International tea symposium held in Mandalay

The first international tea symposium was held at the Convocation Hall of Mandalay University in Mandalay Region on February 24. 

The event was organized by Mandalay University and Myanmar Tea Producers Association. 

Region Minister for Electricity, Energy and Construction Zarni Aung, Mandalay University Pro Rector Dr Tin Htay Aung, Oxford Sayadaw Dr Dhamma Sami and Myanmar Tea Producer Association Chairperson Nyo Nyo Seint. 

The aim of holding the symposium was to let the world know about Myanmar traditional tea. A total of 35 papers were read by 35 local tea growers, producers, professors from the university, heads of subject-wise departments and foreign tea researchers, said  association vice chairperson Nay Chi Myat Tun. 

Myanmar exports dried tea and tea to Germany, China, the United States and Ireland. Moreover, Myanmar is trying to produce various kinds of food to go with tea.
