IndiGo Airlines, one of the biggest airlines from India, is inaugurated Yangon-Kolkata daily direct flight on September 20, according to Yangon International Airport (YIA).

The airline introduced the direct flight after a fair to promote tourism sector between Myanmar and India held at Kolkata on September 14.

A total of 33 airlines are running at YIA before and the IndiGo Airlines is 34th airlines running at the YIA currently.

The JC (Cambodia) airlines, a 33rd airlines running at the YIA, started the direct flight between Yangon and Phnom Penh on August 17.

The YIA opened Mingalar Sky Premium Lounge to provide 24-hour services for the convenience of travellers on August 21.

The Mingalar Sky Premium Lounge has six restrooms which can provide services for up to ten people and provides free sitting area for 80 passengers.

The YIA is strategically located between India and China and it is about six-hour flight distance from Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Narita, Incheon, Dubai, Doha, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei. It served 6.035 million passengers in 2018.
