As the India had temporarily blocked the traffic flow at their border gates, commodities flow at the Reed border area had come to a halt, according to Reed Township administrator Kyin Lan Kham.

"The border trade has stopped since March 27, including passenger buses. We don't know how long it will last. There are people who travel to Reed lake. Travelers can still go there with bikes but supplying commodities with motorcycles are prohibited," said Reed Township administrator Kyin Lan Kham.

It's been four or five days that the border has stopped. Transport of betel are had nearly stopped. Previously, 3000 or 4000 bags of betel were exported per day but now only 1000 bags have been exported. At present, no trucks are are allowed to pass, except for passenger buses, according to a betel merchant.

Unconfirmed sources claim that this is a result of a dispute between  a social organization in Kyanphai  in Mizoram province in India and a social organization in Pho Khwathar village.
