MONYWA-----The headmistress who was assigned at the Malu village polling station in Mawlu region, Indaw Township, Katha District, Sagaing Region, has been dismissed from her role as a polling officer because she had distributed the pens branded Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) to the teachers, says Tin Hlaing, chairman of Indaw Township election sub-commission.
“We are now investigating the case. Those complained against her so also the political parties rejected the headmistress who was assigned as the polling station officer. That’s why we dismissed her. If we assign her as the polling station officer, her life is in danger. We have no plan to take actions against her in accordance with the electoral law. As we changed the post of polling station officer, the complaining party agreed. The political parties that complained against the headmistress also have no plans to sue her but they urged the township election sub-commission to cooperate with each other,” said Tin Hlaing.
Five political parties and an independent candidate will be taking part in an upcoming general election 2020 by representing in the Indaw constituency. The five political parties are the ruling National League for Democracy, Union Betterment Party, National Unity Party, Union Solidarity and Development Party and Tai-Leng (Shan-ni People) Nationalities Development Party.
