PETALING JAYA: The next Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has won the hearts of the people and politicians with his humble ways.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who has known His Majesty for 15 years, hailed the new King’s humility and down-to-earth personality.

“Tuanku is a kind-hearted Ruler,” Dr Wee added.

Sultan Abdullah’s second cousin, Datin Sharifah Zarinatasha Jamalullail, 29, described him as a kind, friendly, caring and loving Ruler.

“Tuanku really loved his mother (Almarhumah Tengku Ampuan Afzan Tengku Muhammad).

“Tuanku cares about the welfare of the royal household and the rakyat.

“Despite being busy carrying out his duties as the Crown Prince for 44 years, Tuanku found time to lead the Pahang royal family welfare association and graciously entertained requests for an audience,” she said.

She added that she was also confident that the rakyat would love Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar, who would soon be proclaimed Tengku Ampuan Pahang and will be discharging her duties as the Raja Permaisuri Agong.

Zarinatasha’s husband Datuk Ahmad Fauzi Wan Husain said Tuanku loved to read.

“Tuanku listened attentively when I described the content of my book on the concept of watan sovereignty where the principles of Malaysian sovereignty hinge on the Rulers’ faith in caliphate,” said Ahmad Fauzi, a constitutional law expert.

Terengganu Mentri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar hoped to see Malaysia flourishing under Islamic guidance during Sultan Abdullah’s reign while Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was confident that the nation would soar to greater heights.

“We in Umno pray that the country will be blessed with peace and prosperity. We will remain loyal to the King,” he added.

Among the well-wishers on social media, Dave Kingsman Avran said he hoped peace and prosperity would prevail during the reign of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
