Local residents say that heavy rains and mountain torrents are causing flooding in the village of Hangan, Ye Township, Mon State.

Since September 7, heavy rains and mountain torrents have begun to enter the village. And currently, there are floods in Ward Nos. 2, 3, 7 and 8, which are low-lying areas, said a local resident. 

"There are about two feet of water in the village street. We are facing mountain torrents only now, and if the rain continues to fall and when sea tides come, there will be more floods,” he added.

According to local residents, flooding occurred once on July 18 in the village of Hangan, once on July 29, and it is the third flooding now.

The monsoon winds in the Andaman Sea and the Ban of Bengal are so strong that more rainfall may occur in Rakhine State, Kayin State and Mon State in the next two days, according to a report by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
