The Ministry of Health and Sports will use five digital mobile X-ray Roms with the aim of scanning for more possible TB patients, said Dr Myint Htwe, Union Minister for Health and Sports.

The remarks of the Union Minister came from the National Annual TB Evaluation Meeting (2017) held in Nay Pyi Taw on November 8.

Dr Myint Htwe said in his speech, “TB patient rates are on the decrease in some regions. But we need to analyze the decreasing figure is true or not. We will use five digital mobile X-ray Roms in order to scrutinize more possible TB patients. Instructions and strategies must be prepared how to do where necessary. Joint treatment service of TB and HIV began in 2015 and it was carried out in the country extensively in 2016. The ministry must try to meet a 90 percent of ART coverage in the whole country. TB patients should be examined whether they are infected with HIV or not.”

The ministry will increase by 2.5 percent in the budget to be spent on fight against TB. The ministry hopes TB patients will decrease to 40 percent during 2020 and resistant TB drugs to five percent within five years of 2015 to 2020, said the Union minister.
