NAUNGPAIN - Untimely rain, along with hailstones, poured down in Hsipaw Township, Kyaukme District, northern Shan State, yesterday night.

The hails were about the size of betel nut and went on for about 15 minutes, the locals said. Trees also fell on houses.

“Heavy rain poured yesterday night and hailstones fell for about 15 minutes. We didn’t know that some hailstones got into the houses. They made our belongings wet. We are now going to Konethayar village to remove the fallen trees,” said Ko Myo from Social Welfare Association in Hsipaw Township.

During the rain and the hail, the power was cut in Hsipaw.

“Galvanized iron sheets and wooden bars were blown away. Some fell in front of our house. The hail and the heavy rain had completely soaked our items,” said one of the locals.

A similar untimely rain poured down in Lashio Township.
