Fuel prices surge in Yangon

Prices of diesel have increased by over 200 kyats per litre and gasoline by over 100 kyats per litre in Yangon, according to the reference prices of the Fuel Import, Storage and Distribution Supervisory Committee.

On December 22, the price of fuel is 2,560 kyats per litre for 92 Ron, 2,660 kyats per litre for 95 Ron, 2,410 kyats per litre for diesel and 2,460 kyats per litre for premium diesel.

The prices sold on December 21 were 2,445 kyats per litre for 92 Ron, 2,545 kyats per litre for 95 Ron, 2,185 kyats per litre for diesel and 2,240 kyats per litre for premium diesel.

As a result, prices of 92 Ron and 95 Ron were increased by 115 kyats per litre and premium diesel has increased by 220 kyats per litre and diesel by 225 kyats per litre.

This morning, some gas stations in Yangon hung notices saying that they were temporarily closed as they were queuing to take out fuel in Thilawa. Some vehicles were also lined up at the gas stations where they were selling.

On December 21, the Central Bank of Myanmar announced that it had sold more than US$12 million to fuel importers.
