Traffic of cargo vehicles has been suspended on the road sections connecting Mandalay-Lashio, Lashio and Muse, Lashio and Laukkai, according to locals from Lashio Township.
Fighting continues in surrounding areas of northern Shan State. Moreover, armed groups laid down the trees on the Goktwin road between Kyaukme and Naungcho Townships situated on Lashio-Mandalay Union Highway. So, cargo vehicles stopped transporting the commodities between Lashio and Mandalay.
“There is no car leaving from Mandalay to Lashio Township as well as all flights to and from Lashio airport already had been cancelled. The street vendors have a few items of vegetables. As the cargo vehicles didn’t come from Mandalay to Lashio, the shops can’t sell the commodities,” said a local from Lashio.
“We heard the sound of gunfire from military jet fighter at the Goktwin road on October 28. The last trucks leaving from Mandalay arrived in Lashio around 11 am of October 28. As being of October 30, no cargo vehicles come to Lashio from Mandalay,” one of the locals from Lashio told about the condition of Mandalay-Lashio road section.
Moreover, there is no commodities access and passenger buses on Mandalay-Lashio Union Highway and Lashio-Theinni-Kutkai-Muse road section and Lashio-Kunglon-Chinshwehaw-Laukkai road, according to the locals.
“Currently, vehicles can’t move to Lashio from Muse, Chinshwehaw and Kunlon. And then, Theinni Bridge already has been collapsed. So, no one can go to Muse and Chinshwehaw,” said a local from Lashio.
