The broker who obtained money from 22 Myanmar workers arriving in Thailand by tricking them into getting jobs have been arrested and the cash has been seized from him, according to a statement released by Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Federation (MOEAF) based in Bangkok.

The fraudster collected 2,500 to 3,500 baht from one worker promising a job at a confectionary factory.

As the workers received no jobs after about two months, they telephoned the labour attaché's office for help.

Those workers went to Thailand under a memorandum of understanding but they quit their former jobs following worksite dissatisfaction. They were then tricked by the broker into getting jobs at a confectionary factory.

Under the directive of the labour attaché's office, MOEAF and local police arrested the broker.

Currently, the 22 Myanmar workers are under the care of MOEAF Call Centre.
