Four AA suspects arrested in Mandalay, explosives found

MANDALAY- Four persons assumed to be Arakan Army (AA) members were arrested along with explosive devices at a house in Chanmya Tharsi Township, Mandalay Region yesterday morning, says Police Brig-Gen Sein Lwin from Mandalay Region Police Force.

The Eleven Media asked Police Brig-Gen Sein Lwin about the news of explosives yesterday evening.

He confirmed it but did not divulge more information as it was still under investigation.

According to rumors, AA suspects are being interrogated at the Mandalay Region Police Force.

The update information until 6pm yesterday released by Mandalay Region Police reported that 40 satellite phones, 30 telescopes, 25 GPS devices, suspect 28 packets of munitions, 1,000 detonators and five bags to be assumed as a white gunpowder were seized.

The detainees were one from Yangon Region and three from Rakhine State.

Similarly, Khaing Khaing who had served as a member of the AA was arrested for possessing the drugs by the end of August. She illegally worked in Thailand, 2015. Later, AA persuaded her to work at the AA as a new member. In doing so, she recruited several members to the AA and traded in the drugs for seeking the fund.

Moreover, the police force reported that she had brought and sent the drugs five times by Yangon-Sittwe Passenger Buses.
