PETALING JAYA: (The Star/ANN) - The previous administration of Malaysia was never blamed for issues that cropped up when I led the country, says former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"We were sincere and worked hard to develop the nation, while prospering all Malaysians. Whenever there were problems, we fixed it. We didn't point fingers," he said in a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday (April 16).

The Pekan MP then listed nine problematic legacies his administration had to deal with, which included solving biased independent power producer deals and repurchasing PLUS and placing it under the government, and EPF.

He also said that the Barisan government he led also introduced 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) and finding funds for Felda, which he said did not have enough allocations to replant crops and provide for the welfare of ageing settlers.

Najib added that Malaysia's national economic growth and exports became among the highest in the world during the nine years he led the country.

"We didn't lie to the people with propaganda that we will make Malaysia great again as an Asian tiger. In fact, we were never known as an Asian tiger to begin with," said Najib.

He said that Malaysia was given the title of the world's longest running bull market, adding that it reaching its peak in early May, right before the 14th General Election.

Najib also said that the share market value rose from RM600 billion to RM2 trillion when he led the country.

"A large sum of the RM1.4 trillion wealth gained during that time was shared amongst the people," he said.

Najib expressed regret that he had never wrote lengthy articles such as this when he was the prime minister, in fending off and fixing claims made by PH.

He said this was mainly due to the fact that BN was too focused on making the National Transformation Plan (NTP) a success, which ultimately led to their loss in GE14.

"We lost in GE14 because many were convinced by the lies that Malaysia was heading towards bankruptcy, even though the reality was otherwise," he said.
