First Maritime Conference Myanmar to be held in Yangon

Myanmar will hold Maritime Conference Myanmar 2018 for the first time to develop the country's maritime sector, according to sources from the Department of Marine Administration.

Under the directive of the department under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the first maritime conference will take place at  Rose Garden Hotel in Yangon on November 15 and 16 with the aim of developing Myanmar's maritime sector and making Myanmar a strong maritime country.

Maritime Conference Myanmar 2018 will be attended by local intellectuals and intelligentsia, businessmen, owners of foreign vessels who appoint Myanmar seamen and entrepreneurs.

 The Department of Marine Administration held national Workshop on Maritime Transport Policy in October. Moreover, the department organized an international seminar related to maritime in Yangon from September 10 to 14.

Myanmar became a signatory to India Ocean Memorandum of Understanding (IOMOU) on Port State Control.
