A fire broke out at MPT Exchange office in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region, cutting off MPT phone line and internet connections.

The fire started at the office located on Kabaaye Pagoda Road in Ward No.5 at about 10.23am on February 7. Myanmar Fire Services Department and Mayangon Township Fire Station sent fire engines to the scene. The fire was controlled at 10.37am and put out at 10.45am, the department announced.   

Local residents in Yangon said due to the fire, MPT SIMs could not receive incoming calls.  

“I can make outgoing calls but cannot receive incoming calls. Not only phone line, but also internet connections are being cut off,” said a resident in Thonegwa Township.

MPT has announced that due to the MPF Exchange office fire, its lines had been temporarily cut off.
