Only a few Chinese tourists visited Ngwe Saung Beach due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus in China, sources said.

The beach was crowded with Chinese tourists during the holidays but now there are a few Chinese tourists as some airlines from China were suspended with authorities imposing strict security checks on arrival of Chinese tourists due to the coronavirus. No more new Chinese tourists visited the beach and now the tourists are leaving the beach.

“We drew plan with respective health department to make preventive measures but we only have a station hospital in Ngwe Saung. We are concerned about impacts on tourism sector. So we suspended our plan. However a few Chinese tourists visit the beach in these days,” said Wunna Win, Administrator of Ngwe Saung.

Patients with novel coronavirus have fever, bronchitis, cough and shortness of breath and can be fatal after kidney failure.
