FDI in hotels and tourism sector hits over 4.3 m USD

From October to December of 2018-2019 fiscal year, hotels and tourism sector saw an inflow of over USD 4.3 million foreign investments, according to Directorate of Investment and Company Administration.

The government is inviting entrepreneurs to invest in the regions with highest prospects.

“Chin State is a beautiful place surrounded by mountains Chin State with many famous tourist destinations. Entrepreneurs are invited to invest in the nature-based tourism industry. The weather is cool and tourists prefer this weather condition”, said Chin State Chief Minister Salai Lian Lwal.

“Myanmar has signed a MoU with India on  a gate pass. Under this MoU, Indian citizens can visit Myanmar for 14 days. In turn, Myanmar citizens can make a 14 days visit to India. Currently, both sides have access to a 16 km tour only. Myanmar government is now negotiating with Indian government to enable tourists to visit the whole state. Thanks to it, many more tourists are likely to visit our country,” he added.

Entrepreneurs are becoming more interested in nature-based tourism industry in Kayah and Kayin States.
